Truth Seeker: Creating a Mindshift
Mindshift:
Sometimes we can be so set in our ways, so down, so blind to the truth, or in so much denial, that one thing can help us see in a different light. There is a kicker though. The only way to get us out of a "set pattern" of thinking, is we have to be available and open to change. Change scares the hell out of some people. Change isn't comfy. Its against the grain and out of the ordinary. But a shift in our thinking...a mindshift, can make all the difference in our lives.
A mindshift is the result of when a change has occurred for you to see differently. Your views may not have done a complete turn, but you may have changed your perspective just a teeny tiny bit. And then my friends... you have created the shift.
This can be the result from:
-a book
-a conversation with a friend
-an adventure
-a song
-a fight
-a resolution
-your child's birth
-a conference
-your relationship with those around you
Anything can create a shift (for better or for the worse) if you will allow it!
One mindshift I have had, is to be raw and authentic, and to want more for my life. This is where T+G was born. I wanted to do what I had always said I wanted to do. One thing I have done to continue to fuel the passion and the mindshift, is to be intentional with what I am consuming. No...not the coke and peanut m&m's that sit on my bedside table as I write this. But what am I feeding my mind, my soul and my heart? What am I listening to? What am I constantly thinking about? What am I speaking?
The old proverb in the Bible mentions that whatever you are thinking, that is what you are. And I have found that to be so true. When I think negatively, I am negative. When I think with passion, I am passionate. When I think my world is crashing down, I am a chaotic mess. When I think about love and gratitude, I am love to others.
.
So I challenge you to do a check in...
- What are you thinking of right now, in regards to yourself, your relationships, or just life in general? __________________________________________
- What materials are you consuming on a regular basis? ___________________________
- How do these resources/materials make you feel and think? Do you see things in a different light? Are you feeling worse than you were before? ___________________________
- Pick one resource/material that you consume on a regular basis. We are going to have an experiment, if you will allow it to happen. Choose one resource: book, song, social media, podcast, show, etc. And we are going to switch it out with another resource, that you don't consume regularly or are not used to.
Now lets write down our game plan.
Today I choose to engage and fuel a mindshift. I am switching up things, by switching out:
__________
__________
__________
for
__________
__________
__________.
After I made the switch I felt:
___________________________________________.
I learned _________________________________________.
I will implement more of this resource by ___________________________________.
