Truth Seeker: Go Through The Change

Change can be such a hard thing for some. I know for me... I am an absolute control freak. I love to plan out my days, my meals and activities, and sometimes change (especially unexpectedly) can throw me off. I know this is something that I need to continue to work on.

We see lessons of change in nature. Have you looked at the changes that a tree goes through during the four seasons? I mean actually truly observe it.

We notice in the spring that little buds will begin to blossom where flowers once were. When we look up, its almost like the trees cover us with a hazy green as the leaves try to replenish themselves. We can even sense change through our sense of smell. Spring has a smell you know? For us here in the South, its the smell of pollen and those stinky Bradford Pear trees. But we can see a rebirth and an awakening.

In what moments of you life have you noticed your spring? An awakening or a rebirth. Maybe its a change of scenery, a change in jobs or a change in your relationship.

That same tree that is awake and blossoming, will change once again when the new season begins. Summer will bring about warm toasty days, with unexpected rain showers. The sun really wakes up our surroundings, making things more vibrant and alive. There is a feeling of adventure in the air.

In what moments of your life you noticed your summer? What moments have you had recently that left you feeling vibrant and shining? What passions do you have that literally make you feel on fire and alive?

The fall (my favorite season) will soon come about. We begin to notice a shift... a literal change in the air. We can hear it by the wind blowing through the trees. There is a crispness in the air, and during this season, I am reminded of smells of campfires and a warm coffee in the morning. During this time, we notice that the leaves begin to change colors and slowly begin to die off. Soon the trees will begin to shed what no longer belongs, and the dead leaves will blanket the ground below.

In what moments of your life have you noticed your fall? A literal shedding of things that are no longer of use. A crisp cool breeze that will carry your "leaves" away.

And finally our trees will go through one final change during the winter. Winter brings about extreme temperature change, a stillness and quietness, and what seems almost like no growth among our limbs. The cold may bring about a frost that can stunt our growth, or maybe a blanket of snow that has the potential to weigh us down.

In what moments of your life have your noticed your winter? A chilly or nippy atmosphere that can cause discomfort. Have you had moments where there is a stillness in your life? Did that stillness make you feel at peace or uncomfortable?

What is amazing during this entire process of each season of our lives, is each change that we encounter is necessary. Our trials, our failures, our happy moments, our unplanned events - each change we can walk away looking at it either with gratitude or with attitude. Absolutely life can get tough, especially if you have lost someone, or going through a financial bind, or experiencing abuse. But how can we look at each change, or each season and find gratitude.

Because here is the thing, during your fall season you will have your moments where your "leaves are dying off" leaving you bare. What is amazing about leaves during the fall, is those same leaves, that same dead junk that you have been holding onto, those leaves serve as a fertilizer for the soil that you are planted in. Once your hardships, your trials and your tribulations are shed away, they can literally serve as nutrients to promote growth. Because after the stillness and the quiet comes, your spring and summer will return. Your vibrancy and energy will return. Your growth will bring about fullness and life.

And it was all because you went through the change!
