Adventure: Santa Rosa Beach, Florida
Right now the beach is absolutely calling my name. The sun. The sand. The breeze. One of our first camping trips was to the beach, and we decided to go to the Santa Rosa Beach area or also known as 30A. I have joked many times about the only way that we could afford to be in this area, was by staying in the trailer park. But not only was it affordable, but undeniably the best way to stay in that area!
In order to camp in this area you will be staying inside of Grayton Beach State Park. If you have ever been in this area before, you will notice the state park is located outside of the Seaside residential area. The best thing about staying at a state park is the scenery is so picturesque. We were greeted by several lakes and massive sand dunes that are of course protected.
The campgrounds were well kept and very secluded. In fact, it felt as if you were surrounded by a rain forest. Trees provide a canopy over many camping spots that can either be used for primitive camping or for RV campers. Spots for camping get booked very quickly so be sure to plan well in advance.
Depending on where your camping spot is situated, you are able to walk or take a quick two minute ride to the boardwalk, which is within the park. You are greeted by a beach that literally has nothing on it. And boy do I mean nothing. No hotels. No houses. No restaurants. I love that about this area of the beach. There is so much room to spread out and no one to interrupt your family time. If you are into beach rentals or touristy adventures, this is not the place for you. If you are more into relaxation, hiking, horseback riding, paddling etc., then you have found your paradise!
One of our favorite things about this area was it was extremely affordable. I am talking it is $30 a night to have your camper there. Thirty dollars my friends. You literally cannot get a better deal. There are cabin rentals that are also available within the park. Another reason why we loved it so much, was because it was our daughter's very first time at the beach. And it was our first time being at the beach with a baby, which if you have done before... you know it can be tricky. We were able to enjoy that time with her in a space that wasn't crowded and very family friendly. Also, we were less than a mile away to many restaurants, shopping and snacks that were within the 30A area.
If I were to recommend a beach camping trip, I would for sure tell you about this area first. Its secluded and allows you to fully relax. If you are into activities, this is a great area to experience that as well. For a full list of activities that are available click here. Grayton Beach State Park is also available for daily access, so if you are not planning on camping there you can at least go and enjoy the beach access area!
