Truth Seeker: Going Back To Normal

"In the rush to return to normal,
use this time to consider
which parts of normal are worth rushing back to."
-Dave Hollis

This quote could not be any more perfect for our lives than right now. Right now, smack dab during this long quarantine time. During this time, where we can literally taste it and see a normal coming back. But the truth of the matter is...

Normal isn't coming back.

The life and routine that you had before this quarantine time is long gone. I have mentioned before that no one will leave this time untouched or not changed. That is not an exaggeration. Its just the truth. We can see evidence now as places are loosening the reigns, places are reopening and some are choosing to remain closed. Right now we are in the oddest time where things are starting to feel a little bit better, but then we are quickly reminded of it once the masks come on.

For me personally, I can see and feel the energy that everyone has. We are over this. Done. Ready to carry on and go back to normal. Let me remind you that this will be a new normal that we will be greeted with. So...

lets figure out what is worth rushing back to. Meaning re-evaluate. Take a moment to pause and think about the parts that you are so desperately craving. The moments that you are missing. And make sure that it is worth rushing back to.

There is a quote that I have seen many people make their own version of, but the quote goes like this...

"If its not a hell yes,
then its a hell no."

Now does this quote work for all areas of our lives? Realistically speaking... no. But in this case, apply this quote and see how it works out for you. Pre-quarantine back before this pandemic, there were things that you wanted to include in your life. And during quarantine time you have had the opportunity to include those in your life. Hell yes to the family time. Hell yes to the alone time. Hell yes to the picnics, running through the sprinkler, and to the ice cream. Hell yes to the simpler schedules and slower moments.

All of those hell yes moments -  those are worth rushing towards. Bring those along with you post-quarantine when that time comes.

Hell no to the stress. Hell no to being overbooked and overworked. Hell no to never having a moment to invest in myself. Hell no to the depression and sadness. Hell no to not having time with my family.

All of those hell no moments - those are not worth rushing back to. Define for yourself what you want your new normal to be like. You have a choice. If you have learned anything during this odd time, I hope it has been that you do have a choice. You have a choice to pause, slow down and ultimately STOP. Stop and realize that you can decide what you want for yourself, instead of letting your surroundings decide for you.

Describe what things/priorities/moments are an absolute
hell yes that you want to include in your new normal.
