Adventure: Camping on the Beach at Camp Gulf

I've always dreamed of being able to step out of a set of french doors that overlooked the ocean, and the next step that I took was on some sandy beach. Although that is possible to do in some parts of the world, it also comes with big dollar signs that this mama can't pay for.

Recently, we took the camper to Camp Gulf in Sandestin, Florida, and I have to say it was definitely the next best thing. I may not have had a set of french doors to walk out of, but the access to the sandy beaches and clear waters couldn't have been closer. The best thing about Camp Gulf, is you have the opportunity to snag a spot literally on the sand. That's right! Literally, park your camper on the sand. Giving you the opportunity to open your windows at night to hear the ocean waves, catching every sunrise and sunset, and letting the little ones continue building their sandcastles while you grill out.

Camp Gulf campground is located in San Destin, Florida and is directly across the street from the well known Baytowne Wharf area. Baytowne Wharf houses residences, condos, beautiful golf courses, and our favorite part in the back is The Village of Baytowne Wharf.  The Village offers lots of shopping, dining options and entertainment year round.

Camp Gulf offers many RV sites that come with picnic areas and a paved parking pad. There are two rows available for parking on the beach, and it books up quickly. Additional sites still have quick access and amazing views of the beach as well. Click here to view a map of the RV sites.

If you don't have a camper, this campground is still the best option and more affordable for your family vacations. There are cabins available which can sleep up to 6 people, and there is one cabin that sits on the beach that can house several families. Cabins come fully furnished with picnic areas, large porches, and they even include a large wagon that is perfect for taking down to the beach. One other cute option is the new safari tents that offer large front porches, and plenty of sleeping space for the whole family.

The RV park features many amenities such as updated bathhouses, swimming pools, playground area, rec center, laundry facilities, a water park area with slides and splash pad areas for the littles, and even food trucks that bring the food to you! One other neat service that we saw there, was a cleaning service that comes and cleans your camper for you as you continue to sunbathe right there on the sand.

And did I mention, that the absolute best part is that you are literally steps from those white sandy beaches. What other beach can you do that at without paying an arm and leg?
