Adventure: Rock Garden

Looking for a day time adventure that is free, but memorable? Check out Rock Garden. I remember coming across an Instagram post one day, and it was all about this tucked away garden in Calhoun, Georgia.  I am originally from Cartersville, Georgia and I still have family living there, so this was definitely a stop that would be easy for me to take.

This special garden sits behind a church, and the church welcomes all visitors from dawn until dusk. The story behind the garden is there was a member of the church that wanted to create a garden with structures built out of stones, gems and other items, to create castles, tiny towns and well known buildings like The Notre Dame. As you walk through the garden, you are able to walk across tiny bridges, look through windows of the structures and even see the Colosseum. Our daughter absolutely loved this place.

There is no cost to come (there is a box for donations) and it is free parking. Just pull into the Calhoun Seventh Day Adventist Church on 1411 Rome Road, and follow the signs that take you to the back. The garden is so quiet and serene, with picnic areas, benches and a little stream that runs nearby. There is also a nature trail walk as well.
