Adventure: Staycation In a Glamping Tent

This summer, the summer of 2022, has been a real doozy when it comes to gas prices. I know you feel the same too. Everyone is feeling it. We can feel it put a strain and a tightening on some of the things or activities that we typically would be doing.

When it has come to our family vacations, in years past I have journaled and written about multiple trips during our summers. But this summer we cut way back. Not because we cant afford it, but just because there is so much uncertainty in the air. But we have still made memories, and still taken a beach trip here and there. But when it comes to mama and daddy, we have needed some time away. No children interrupting, no one jumping violently on us at 6am, and doing whatever we want- which consisted of a whole lot of nothing.

We decided to book an overnight staycation literally 15 minutes up the road from our house. You may be wondering, why spend money when you can go have a nice dinner and come right back home? I thought this too, and almost talked myself right out of it. I spoke about this on the podcast, about how when we step away from our homes, we are choosing to step away from distractions, responsibilities and a rhythm and norm that we are used to.

Don't get my wrong. I have become quite the homebody and adore our home. But, the laundry will always be there (and have to be rewashed and wrinkle released about three times). The dog will inevitably stare you down, and give you a look of disgust because you haven't fed her at the exact time she would like. And there will be the scrubbing of ketchup and macaroni and cheese residue that magically appeared on the kitchen wall.

This is our beautiful and crazy life, and I can promise you I wouldn't have it any other way.

But what I will take, is all of that, but with a side of time alone with my husband to reconnect and be each others distraction.

Ok, the tent.

We booked a one night stay in the Springbok Glamping Tent that is located at Pine Mountain RV Resort. This was our first time staying at the resort, and we were so pleased. The RV resort has many options including glamping tents, yurts, cabins, and plenty of spacious camper spots. What was really nice was the camper area was on a separate part of the property than the glamping tents, so it felt very secluded and private.

Pine Mountain RV Resort is located close to downtown Pine Mountain, Georgia and just a quick ride to Callaway Gardens. This resort has all the amenities that you were to need like laundry, fitness room, swimming pool with kiddie water area, new playground equipment that is shaded, a dog park area, and a lounge with games and store.

Staying in a glamping tent is completely different than staying in a yurt or regular tent, for sure. Our tent featured a large wooden front porch with patio furniture, that had a set of glass french doors that led into the tent. Once inside the tent, a queen size bed, fully stocked kitchen (with fridge, sink, microwave, toaster oven and coffee maker), and sitting area were in clear view. The whole vibe of the decor was natural and bohemian, and definitely added to the experience. In the rear of the tent, was a large bathroom area that included a rain shower, toilet, vanity and sink. And on the opposite rear side of the tent, was a set of twin bunk beds that had a closet area for clothing etc.

And what made this experience perfect for a southern summer in June?

Air conditioning. Glorious air conditioning and heating units are in these bad boys.

I'd have to say my favorite part about staying in the glamping tent were the windows. On the outsides of the tent, there were several windows and they had a zipped covering that was for the mesh material of the window. My husband decided to unzip all of the windows and to only have the mesh barrier, so that we were outdoors, but without being fully outdoors. We could hear and see the birds, could feel a small cross breeze, and could smell the summer rain.

This camping option is perfect for a quick getaway, with or without the kids. Especially if you are local to this area, it definitely is a memorable trip that wont kill your gas fund budget.

Happy Glamping!
