Georgia

Fort Mountain State Park: Just you and nature baby! This park sits high on top of  an enormous mountain, and the road to get to it, winds up the mountain, for about 4 miles. The perfect time to go is when the leaves start to change colors, because the drive is so picturesque.

*Be sure to take the trail to the Overlook for a breathtaking view.*

Lookout Mountain KOA: This campground is just a short drive across the state lines to ChattanoogaTennessee. I have to be honest...this campground did not impress me. You had everything you needed, but it honestly felt like we were just parked in a big gravel parking lot. Granted- we were there during the colder months, so we really did not get out as much to explore the area. We were there for a good price, and it was a quick drive to visit the city of Chattanooga. Click here to learn about the two places we visited while at this campground.

Stone Mountain: Stone Mountain is not a state park, but it should be. The year-round adventures at this place are endless...in fact this place deserves its own separate blog post (and its going to get one)! Staying at the campground honestly got us the best perks when we visited. And they have the most adorable Yurts that have the mountain and water in clear view. *Absolute favorite.* Click here to learn what you can do at this campground.

Rivers End Campground:This campground is located on Tybee Island, and was only 4 blocks from the water. The campground was lined with gorgeous trees covered in Spanish moss, and each lot was well kept. Also, this campground was about a 20 minute drive to Downtown Savannah, and about a 40 minute drive to Skidaway Island. Click here to learn what you can do at this campground.

Margaritaville RV Resort: This campground is located on the islands of Lake Lanier in Buford, Georgia. This resort is owned and operated by the Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville Resorts that are all over the world. This campground is so well done and well thought out. Each spot has its own concrete pad and large grassy area. Many of the spots back up to the lake giving you the best views, and lake access to have your boat with you. This campground also allows you to bring your boat and dock it for free. Perks with staying at the campground are free beach access at the Margaritaville Resort and a discount to the Margaritaville Water Park. This campground is open all year long and sites book up quickly! We highly recommend this RV park and is definitely one of our new favorites. Click here to learn what you can do at this campground!

Cloudland Canyon State Park is on the other side of Lookout Mountain, in Rising Fawn Georgia. Cloudland Canyon State park offers many camping areas including primitive camping, back in and pull thru spots. Full hook ups and fire pit areas are available as well. At the entrance of the park, there is a well stocked store with all your camping needs. Playgrounds and hiking trails are also available in the park. The camping spots are well spaced out, have picnic tables and have lots of trees for privacy. There are also cottages and yurts available for rent. Cloudland Canyon State Park is such a beautiful campground (especially during the fall), and it definitely is one of our favorites. Alabama

Wind Creek State Park: This state park is located right on the waters of Lake Martin. The water is the cleanest lake water I have ever seen, and it is so blue! The campground has many camping options like primitive style, cabins, and full hook ups. This campground is beyond clean and the lots are kept up.

*The best part is you are a quick boat ride (which you can rent) from the famous Chimney Rock. This is the ultimate party cove area for all ages. Watch daredevils jump from Chimney Rock, which is pretty high up. I have jumped off this rock several times, but last time I was shown up by a 7 year old!*

Cheaha State Park: This state park is known as Alabama's highest point- and they weren't lying. Located in the Talladega National Forest, the overlook sits at least 2,100 feet above sea level. It continues to climb even higher to 2,407 feet above sea level. Also, you can visit High Fallsand Devils Den Falls here. These waterfalls are absolutely breathtaking and are a must for any water-lover!

Chewacla State Park: Minutes away from Auburn University and Toomer's Corner. To my understanding, the campground spots get booked fairly quickly during football season. This park is perfect for a quick weekend getaway, or if you are into mountain biking, their trails were pretty impressive. Also, be sure to check out the creek and waterfall (you can tell water is my favorite).

Florida

Grayton Beach State Park: Guys! I have joked lots of times about the only way that we could afford to stay in the Santa Rosa Beach area, (30A) was by staying in the trailer park. But seriously...Santa Rosa Beach is a beautiful area, but also a very expensive area. Grayton Beach State Park allows you to stay just a quick walk from the beach. This area of the beach has absolutely nothing on it. This hidden gem is one of my absolute favorite spots. Click here to learn what you can do on your trip to this campground.

Camp Gulf RV Park: Have you ever dreamed of parking your camper literally right on the sand? Come to Camp Gulf to do exactly that. There are only a select few campgrounds in the United States where you can be this close to the beach, and Camp Gulf in Destin, Florida is one of them. You have a private beach, full amenities, water park, pool and other lodging options (cabins and glamping tents). Literally, this place ranks high on our favorites. Texas

San Antonio/Alamo KOA This campground is only about a 10 minute drive to downtown San Antonio and the riverwalk area. The nice thing about this campground is they provide a shuttle bus that runs every day, every 12 minutes. This KOA was nicely kept up and had a beautiful pool, where they provided pool toys, and also had a mini fountain area (perfect for toddlers). Our favorite part was the large community area, where you could purchase the best french toast (free coffee) or you could have your pizza delivered to your camper. Also feel free to rent bikes or go fishing at the nearby lake. Click here for our adventure guide.

Austin EAST KOA This campground is about 15 minutes from downtown Austin. This campground is only about a year old, so their facilities are all up to date and very clean. This campground also provided upgraded spots that included a concrete patio with propane grill, patio furniture, and a fire pit that was situated perfectly for sunset watching. Also there was a laundry facility, playground area, horseshoes, a viewing area to see Texas Longhorn cattle, Hilton quality bathhouses, and a new pool with a mini fountain play area (perfect for toddlers). Our favorite part about this campground was that it was situated away from the city so it was quiet. Also, the KOA employees there were beyond kind and hospitable. One KOA employee, Homer, helped us with an issue on our camper during his night time monitoring shift. Click here for our adventure guide.

Flat Creek Farms RV Resort This campground is secluded off a back road in Waco, Texas. It is only about a 10 minute drive from downtown Waco, which includes the well known Magnolia Silos, Bakery and Magnolia Table restaurant by Chip and Jo Jo Gaines from Fixer Upper. This RV resort is well maintained, very clean and quiet. It overlooks a field which is a nice viewing space for a Texas sunset. A laundry facility, showers and bathrooms are provided, but that is all you will find. There are full hook ups, and there is a creek and old style bridge where you can see and hear all the farm animals. We loved being at this RV resort, because of how quiet it was and how quickly we were able to get to the Silos and downtown area.

Tennessee

Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg KOA Holiday This campground is situated perfectly between Pigeon Forge attractions and just a few minutes to Gatlinburg. As soon as you pull into the campground, you are greeted by a large play area for children (it has some pretty cool playground equipment), pool/hot tub, and the office which also has a store and laundry facility. This campground backs up to a beautiful stream, and it also is next to a large field area that is used for recreation and has a walking track. If RV or tent camping isn't your thing, there are many types of cabins you can choose from to rent. Some cabins along the stream are basic cabins with one room, and other cabins have several rooms along with a large deck for entertaining. At this campground, you will find a pizza shop along with a cafe that is open for breakfast and lunch. I will say that this campground is situated in a very busy area... you are literally minutes away from the Dolly Parton Stampede and Dollywood, but the campground was very quiet and secluded. There are many events that they host throughout the year, including arts and crafts and movie nights. With this area of the Great Smokey Mountains being busy year round, this would be the most ideal and best option for your camping needs!
